Technology has become preponderant in business, surpassing technology areas and becoming critical for different careers and segments. With more than 50% of Brazilians indicating they intend to change careers, the consulting firm Robert Half lists the main careers that are already a trend for the future of the job market in the areas of Technology, Financial Market, Insurance, Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, and Legal.
Uncertainties regarding the speed of mass vaccination and the end of the pandemic, associated with the evolution of remote work and the strong trend toward adopting the hybrid model, drove the acceleration of digital transformation processes in companies and the maintenance of innovation initiatives, with the digitalization of processes and methodologies. As a consequence, some professions gained relevance in the last year and continue to generate positive expectations regarding the present and future of the market.
More than half of the Brazilian population is looking for a new job in 2021
At the same time, the conditions imposed by the pandemic on people's private and professional lives forced many to review their positions, either because they were laid off in the midst of the crisis or because they changed their perspectives on the future. According to the latest edition of the Robert Half Confidence Index (ICRH), the unemployment rate for qualified professionals—people aged 25 or older with a higher education degree—was 6.38% in the last quarter of 2020, well below the 13.9% general unemployment. Another study indicates that 57% of Brazilian workers intend to look for a new job in 2021.
Thus, both for professionals seeking space in the competitive job market and for professionals interested in changing careers, some professions tend to be more strategic in the search for placement. As such, Robert Half's 2021 Salary Guide lists 18 professions of the future of work:
