About Cenprot

CENPROT, or National Protest Center, is an integrated electronic system in Brazil that concentrates information on protests of titles such as checks, promissory notes, trade bills, and other documents. Created with the objective of simplifying access to and consultation of protest records in registry offices across the country, CENPROT represents a significant advance in the modernization of registry services.

Before the implementation of CENPROT, each registry office operated independently, making it difficult to search for information beyond local borders. With this centralization, all registry offices can electronically share this information, creating a national database accessible quickly and efficiently. This initiative aims not only to modernize and streamline protest processes, but also to improve the transparency and legal security of commercial transactions, providing users with the convenience of checking online whether there are protests registered in their names or companies, without the need for physical travel to the registry office.

Technical challenges

CENPROT offers services throughout Brazil by integrating all the country's registry offices. Initially, the company used Microsoft Azure as its primary cloud partner. While it worked effectively in the beginning, they faced challenges with their website's reliability during peak demand, in addition to high costs during low-demand periods and data storage risks, given the importance of their records.

Given this, the need arose to migrate to a more robust, secure, and auto-scaling cloud environment to keep up with the growing demand from registry offices across the country. The migration to AWS (Amazon Web Services) not only resolved these challenges, but also allowed CENPROT to keep its services online efficiently and securely, ensuring operational continuity and improving the end-user experience.

• Greater fault tolerance and availability. The AWS EC2 Auto Scaling group and the AWS Load Balancer can detect when an instance is unhealthy, terminate it, and launch another instance to replace it.

• Greater security. The direct connection to the Equinix database, through AWS Direct Connect, ensures the security of your data.

• Greater economy and efficiency. With AWS's auto-scaling services, the customer pays only for what they use at all times. During peaks of high demand, services scale automatically, ensuring availability, and during periods of low demand, they scale down to save as much as possible.
