About DemandaNet

DemandaNet is a company that emerged to help public institutions provide software to city halls and to people who use services provided by the public sector. Over the years, the development focus shifted to developing software for education departments in more than 70 cities and with more than 100,000 students in its database.

Client's Challenge

The client serves several cities and educational institutions, with different needs, which depended on a local provider to host and store sensitive data, facing frequent outages, data loss, and inadequate application monitoring. Due to the original structure, there was a lack of suitable environments for pre-launch testing, making it difficult to achieve availability, security, and maximum cost savings.

Solution

The first step was to replicate the client's main portal in the AWS cloud, closely replicating their previous application, which was locally hosted. This allowed for testing and validations prior to the full migration to AWS. Homologation environments were also created to conduct tests and leverage lower costs compared to a local installation, and we implemented metrics using AWS CloudWatch to improve observability through log collection. Regarding data security, we achieved our goals by implementing AWS RDS, benefiting from load balancing services and fully managed databases with reliable and accessible backups, and optimizing performance with details provided by Performance Insights.

• Robust and reliable infrastructure, since AWS services are more secure and consistent than local infrastructures. AWS EC2 instances with Elastic Load Balancers are capable of routing traffic efficiently, while AWS RDS is a service managed by AWS and is secure.

• Greater cost savings and efficiency. AWS EC2 and AWS RDS allow scaling based on demand.

Improvement in Service Quality. Once the infrastructure is in the Cloud, with services managed by AWS, the client no longer needs to worry about the maintenance of a local environment and starts to focus on the services offered to them.
