10 ways to get AWS credits

1. AWS Activate

Through AWS Activate, businesses can build or scale with up to $100,000 in promotional AWS credits.

Ideal for startups, AWS Activate allows for quick access through a low-cost and easy-to-use framework.

Additionally, AWS Activate is a great way to apply capital toward a company's development.

Currently, AWS Activate offers two packages designed for startups: AWS Activate Founders (for non-funded startups) and AWS Activate Portfolio (for startups associated with an AWS Activate Provider).

2. AWS Activate Founders

Available as part of the AWS Activate program, AWS Activate Founders is a package for self-funded startups that have not yet raised venture, seed, or angel funding.

Therefore, if your organization is not affiliated with any accelerator or incubator, you can apply.

In general, the package provides credits and resources, as well as technical and business support to help startups build, test, and deploy on AWS.

Upon application and approval, a startup can receive up to $1,000 in Activate Credits and $350 in Developer Support Credits.

The $1,000 credit is valid for two years, and the $350 credit is valid for one year.

3. AWS Activate Portfolio

Unlike the previous ones, the AWS Activate Portfolio package is a program geared towards early-stage startups and entrepreneurs, providing credit for AWS services, AWS Support, and training, as well as exclusive offers, go-to-market support, etc.

With the Portfolio, it is possible to receive AWS Activate Credits to cover AWS services or AWS Activate Business Support credits to cover technical support.

4. Publishing an Alexa Skill

All developers who publish an Alexa skill can apply to receive a $100 AWS promotional credit.

5. AWS Marketplace

By discovering, purchasing, and deploying cloud-based network and security solutions or Big Data solutions offered on the AWS Marketplace, you can earn $200 in promotional AWS credits.

6. AWS Webinars and Events

Attending AWS webinars, events, and conferences can earn you AWS credits. To receive them, you must submit proof of attendance.

So, keep an eye on the Amazon events page and check out new opportunities, which are frequently posted.

7. AWS Educate

As a way to educate the next generation of cloud professionals, AWS offers AWS Educate to schools, educators, and students.

Basically, the tool provides institutions with resources aimed at educators and students to drive new formats of cloud-related training and learning, as well as course content.

This way, students have the opportunity to receive credits by gaining hands-on experience with AWS technology, training, content, and career pathways.

Educators at participating institutions earn up to $200 in AWS credits.

Meanwhile, students receive an AWS Educate starter account with up to $100 in credits. In addition, AWS also offers prizes to students and staff members who earn the most credits.

8. AWS for Nonprofits

Amazon offers three different programs for nonprofit organizations: the AWS Nonprofit Credit Program, the AWS Imagine Grant Program, and AWS Cloud Credit for Research.

All of them are designed to help organizations of all sizes overcome barriers related to adopting technologies.

Learn more about them:

8.1 AWS for Nonprofits and NGOs

Through TechSoup Global, qualified nonprofit organizations can request a grant of $2,000 in AWS credits once per fiscal year.

8.2. AWS Imagine Grant Program

Regarded as an open public grant aimed at registered nonprofit organizations that use technology to solve or mitigate the world's most critical problems, the AWS Imagine Grant Program aims to drive the adoption of technological advancements in organizations.

Grants are awarded once a year and provide up to $100,000 in promotional AWS credits.

8.3 AWS Cloud Credits for Research

AWS Cloud Credits for Research is a global program that evaluates academic research from researchers at accredited institutions.

Thus, registered professionals must build a service, software, or tool and host it in the cloud, or migrate a research process to open data in the cloud. The amount of credit awarded depends on the cost model and utilization requirements presented in the research proposal.

9. AWS EdStart

Through the AWS EdStart program, AWS aims to prioritize the long-term success of startups, thus seeking to offer companies the resources needed to get started with AWS quickly and easily.

Upon approval of the application, companies will receive their credit validation. The bonus amount is based on the individual needs of each company.

10. AWS Free Tier

As always, the AWS Free Tier is a great option for getting access to AWS products at no cost.

This way, users can use the products for free until they reach specified limits.

In this case, participants only have access to promotional credits for a limited time.
